Wednesday Apr 03, 2024
When you become a parent, it really changes how you view your career.
In this week's podcast episode, I chat with Career Coach Andrea Barr on Navigating Career Success for Parents.
Here are my top takeaways:
> Prioritize your Career Fulfillment
When you are fulfilled by your job and have a sense of purpose, you enjoy it more and it helps to relieve the guilt of being away from your kids.
> Navigating Rhythms over Routines
Instead of having rigid routines to follow, embracing flexible rhythms helps you adapt better to the daily changes of life.
> Communicate & Advocate
Don’t be afraid to communicate your needs and boundaries with employers.

Wednesday Mar 27, 2024
Embracing your misfit identity can bring a unique perspective and builds your confidence.
What does it mean to Embrace your Misfit Identity? Great Question!
> Accepting yourself and understanding your unique qualities
> Recognizing your differences are valuable and a source of strength
> Celebrating aspects of yourself that make you different from the “norm”
Why would I want to do this?
Here are 3 benefits to embracing your misfit identity:
- Brings innovation and creativity to the team
When you bring your unique perspective, you share things that are outside the box. This brings innovation and creativity.
- Being your authentic self can help the team grow.
You can help make long lasting change in individuals and teams by bringing your unique perspective.
- It can help you find the right work culture
Being who you are will help you find a work culture you can truly fit into.

35 | Job Searching isn't Easy!
Wednesday Mar 13, 2024
Wednesday Mar 13, 2024
Job searching isn’t easy.
You may have heard that:
> The job market is more competitive
> Getting a job is harder than ever
> People are applying for thousands of jobs and not hearing back
While those things are true – it’s not the case for everyone.
Some people are getting job offers and transitioning careers to their dream job.
If you are deep in the job search process, here are 3 things you can do to support yourself during this transition:
> Be realistic in your Expectations
Remember for online applications there is about a 5% response rate. That means to get one response you would need to apply for 20 jobs. (on average)
(That’s why networking is key!)
> Take Time for Self-Care
Job searching can be challenging on your mental health and confidence. Take time for yourself and build supports throughout the process.
> Re-Evaluate your Strategy
Tracking your applications can help you see where there might be roadblocks in your job search.
Do you keep getting rejected after submitting online? It’s time to revamp that resume.
Do you struggle with getting second interviews? Time to brush up on your interview skills.

33 | Stand out from the Crowd: Avoid these 5 Personal Branding Mistakes
Wednesday Feb 14, 2024
Wednesday Feb 14, 2024
Your personal brand is really what will set you apart in your career.
➡ Check out the 5 biggest mistakes people make with their personal brand.
💡 But first, what is a personal brand?
It’s a combination of your resume and cover letter, LinkedIn profile, and other public social media profiles.
🎙 Today on the Destination Dream Job Podcast, I talked about the 5 biggest mistakes when it comes to your personal brand. Tune in to hear the full episode!
❌ Inconsistency across platforms
You want to be known for one thing – make sure all your branding reflects this.
❌ Keeping your personal profiles set to public.
91% of hiring managers review social profiles, if you don’t want them seeing it, set it to private.
❌ Not leveraging LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a great way to have a living resume, an opportunity for hiring managers and recruiters to find you with minimal effort on your part.
❌ Listing tasks instead of accomplishments on your resume
When you list accomplishments you prove to the reader that you are really good at what you say you are.
❌ Forgetting to send thank you letters after an interview.
It takes 2 minutes and leaves a lasting impression.
Avoiding these 5 mistakes will help you to improve your presence and stand out from the competition.
☑ Trust me, very few people are doing this.
If you need help with your personal brand, I’m here to support you whether it’s through a resume review or a complete personal brand overhaul.
