Are you in the early stages of your business and are frustrated by how slow things are going?
I totally get it!
Starting a business is really exciting, you create your goals and your dreams for the next 5 years, where you would like your business to be, and how you want to get there.
But then, it starts to lose its excitement.
So, you start to change your program, analyze your offering, adjust your pricing strategy, or look at yet another certification.
While all that stuff is important, sometimes it becomes busy work to distract from what you really need to be doing and that is outreach, networking, and marketing.
Most of the time it’s not a product problem, it’s a marketing problem.
Especially if you are like me, you love helping people, working with them but putting yourself out there online makes you feel uncomfortable.
Here are 4 tips if you are feeling frustrated in the early stages of your business:
- Stop comparing your beginning to their middle.
Everyone starts at the beginning and goes through the same struggles that we all go through when we start something new.
- Have patience
Building a business takes time, it’s not an overnight success. Focus on the right things and your business will grow one step at a time.
- Account for the stage of life you are in
If you have young kids or your goal is to spend more time with your family, do it! You don’t need to revolve your whole life around your business.
- Don’t give up
If you know there is a market for your business idea, don’t give up. Keep going!

In this episode, we have the pleasure of diving into an inspiring conversation with Shaunna Lee, a renowned coach, bestselling author, and podcast host. Her expertise lies in helping driven yet unfulfilled individuals create a new plan for starting over, navigating life after loss, and finding their passion, purpose, and how to monetize it.
Shaunna's journey into the world of business was anything but straightforward. She spent a good twenty years in corporate America with her marketing degree, doing the whole 9-to-5 thing. But deep down, she always had this burning desire to make a difference, to help others, and share her passion with the world. So, while working her regular job, she found herself spending loads of time mentoring and training others.
But you know how life throws curveballs at you? Well, it did the same to Shaunna with some job losses along the way. Instead of letting it get her down, she decided to embrace the uncertainty and explore her true passions. She started writing a novel, and get this - she even started a sewing business! But the real turning point came during a meditation session. Shaunna had a massive "Aha!" moment and realized she needed to write a book to help women going through divorces. That's when her journey truly took off.

Finding your Why is the best way to stay motivated when building a business.
Your why is the reason for being in business, why you are willing to put yourself out of your comfort zone and achieve your dream life.
When I first started my business, my why was to replace my income. When I achieved that goal, I got comfortable in my business. What I noticed is that my business started to become stagnant.
I re-discovered my why and am as excited as ever about business.
My why is to help people build a life they don’t need a vacation from and to build both financial and time freedom into my own life.
What is your why? If you are thinking of starting a business you need to get clear on your why.
Here are some questions to help you figure it out:
- What does my ideal life look like?
- If I could wave a magic wand and change 2 things – what would they be?
- If I had all the money in the world, what would I spend my time doing?
- Why do I want to start a business?
